Hello, we’re Paul and Julia. Two former Johannesburg citizens who traded the corporate grind for a life built by hand.

For years, the hustle and bustle of Joburg was home but for us it was time to find a space to slow down. So, we made a brave, late-in-life move to rural Mpumalanga, where we found an absolute haven in the quiet charm of Wakkerstroom.

We fell in love with a local smallholding that was already home to an iris farm and turned it into a thriving creative ecosystem. Changing more than just our zip code, we dug our teeth into a massive labor of love.

Paul, an engineer by trade, traded his blueprints for brewing tanks, handling everything from planting nearby hop fields to managing the microbrewery. Julia brought her passion for seasonal hospitality and textural artistry to life, integrating a farm-to-table restaurant alongside the taproom and running her international wholesale ceramics studio from the property.

Together, we have built a warm, deeply connected tourist destination that celebrates local makers, supports the town, and invites you to drop your bags, pull up a chair, and stay a while.
